Hibbing High School offers Alpine Skiing which is just one of it’s many winter sports. Alpine skiing in high school is slalom ski racing. Slalom racing is the act of skiing through a course of turns marked by gates. Members of the team say that the sport is fun, and gives you an adrenaline rush. Still, like any other sport there are challenges. Alpine skiing requires its participants to challenge themselves mentally and physically, and if that’s not enough members of the team have to brave the cold Minnesota winter. One team member was asked “ How do you deal with the cold weather?” Her response was “ Using boot warmers, hand warmers, lots of warm layers, and staying bundled up from the wind.” Although ski racing is a challenge, the members of the team always have fun, and enjoy competing.
