Dylan Days



Dylan days is held in Bob Dylan’s hometown of Hibbing , MN every year usually in May. The very first Dylan Days was held at Zimmys Bar and Restaurant. Dylan Days includes singer/song writer contests, writing contests, literary showcase, visual arts competition, live plays and performances, Bobby Zimmerman bus tour, and other annual events.[1]



One of the three co-chairs of the organizational committee, the editor of the literary journal and the press contact, in a recent interview said, “We have had people from all around the world attend Dylan Days, As far as we know Bob Dylan himself has not attended. We schedule a lot of events like live music, Dylan history tours, literary and fan events, art exhibits and other Dylan fun. The highlight is often our singer/songwriter contest and the bus tour.”[2]



In 2010 the schedule for Saturday May 29th was: Dylan Days bus Tour 10:30am to 2:30pm, Dylan Days U.S. Postal cancellation at Zimmy’s 12:00 to 4:00pm, Zimmy’s Dylan Days Art Exhibition, William Meissner signing copies of his novel 2:30 to 3:30 pm, Dan Bergan and Larry Ryan signing copies of their new DVD 2:30 to 3:30pm, Dylan Days ,“second” Singer-Songwriter contest 3-6, Hibbing Arts Council Benefit Concert at 7, and then freewheelers from Duluth perform Dylan favorites from 10pm to 1am.
